The White House said Biden told Zelenskyy during a 55-minute telephone call that the aid was on its way.
“The leaders discussed… continued efforts by the United States, along with allies and partners, to identify additional capabilities to help the Ukrainian military defend its country,” the White House said in a statement.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also tweeted that he discussed specific defensive support with US President Biden in an hour-long call on Wednesday.

The two leaders also discussed a new package of enhanced sanctions against Russia, Zelenskyy said, as well as financial and humanitarian aid support for Ukraine.
The US Congress earlier this month had approved spending up to $13.6 billion in humanitarian and military assistance for Ukraine, of which $2 billion was already dispatched before Wednesday’s announcement.
During the call, Biden told Zelenskyy how the US is working round the clock to fulfil the main security assistance requests by Ukraine, while the latter shared an assessment of the situation both on battlefield and at the negotiating table with Russia.
Meanwhile, the US intelligence officials have found that Russian President Vladimir Putin is being misinformed by his advisers about his nation’s forces’ poor performance in Ukraine, according to an official.
The official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity Wednesday, said that the finding says Putin is aware of the situation and there is now persistent tension between him and senior Russian military officials.
The Biden administration is hopeful that divulging the finding could help prod Putin to reconsider his options in Ukraine.
