With 1,857 new cases, Nepal’s Covid-19 tally reaches 640,662

The Health Ministry reports 33 new deaths including figures from the past few days based on statistics from the Nepal Army

Kathmandu-Nepal on Thursday reported 1,857 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 640,662.

Similarly, 903 people tested positive in a total of 3,855 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.

As of Thursday, 3,351,263 PCR and 192,666 antigen tests have been carried out across the country.

A total of 7,130 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.

In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported 33 Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.

The countrywide death toll has now reached 9,145. The number of active cases stands at 31,368.

According to the ministry, 600,149 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 4,017 of them in the last 24 hours.

Kathmandu Valley recorded 419 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 316 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 74 in Lalitpur and 29 in Bhaktapur.

In the past 24 hours, 649 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 45 in Province 2, 644 in Bagmati, 356 in Gandaki, 113 in Lumbini, 41 in Karnali and 12 Sudurpaschim.

According to the data released by the ministry, 16 districts are home to more than 500 active cases each and 27 other districts host more than 200 active cases each.

On Thursday, 629 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 181—42 in Province 1, 109 in Bagmati, 17 in Gandaki, nine in Lumbini, one in Karnali, and three in Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.

Nepal on Wednesday reported 1,889 new coronavirus cases and 41 deaths. Similarly, 1,728 new coronavirus cases and 20 deaths were reported on Tuesday and 1,509 new coronavirus cases and 42 Covid-19 -related deaths were reported on Monday
