Nepal faction stays away from UML Central Committee meet

Senior CPN-UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal held a meeting of his faction of the Central Committee members in Kathmandu and concluded that the party should make efforts to keep the coalition of UML and CPN-MC intact.

Nepal faction leader Raghuji Panta said leaders of the faction were of the view that the party’s leaders should forget who said what after the House of Representatives was dissolved and should work together to keep the coalition of CPN-UML and CPN-MC intact.

Leaders who attended the meeting said although the CPN-UML and the CPN-MC were two different parties, efforts should be made to keep the leftist coalition government intact.

Another Nepal faction leader Surendra Prasad Pandey said the meeting deplored vandalism against his faction’s cadres in Kailali district today. He said the party should issue a statement condemning such acts of vandalism.

According to CPN-UML lawmaker Jeevan Ram Shrestha, 61 Central Committee members were present in the meeting. They discussed how they could strengthen the revived UML’s government and address the people’s concerns. He said the UML should continue its efforts to unify all communist forces of the country.

Nepal faction had aligned with CPN-Maoist Centre Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal before the Supreme Court nullified the unification of UML and CPN-MC to form the Nepal Communist Party (NCP).
